WoW Healbot Addon: What is it, and how do I use it?

The Healbot add-on is a user-created, custom built UI designed primarily for healers in World of Warcraft. Healbot is not created or supported by Blizzard Entertainment, nor is it a bot. Healbot may be safely downloaded from https://healbot.alturl.com/.

Healbot is a specialized “raid frame,” a graphical interface alternative to the default group and raid interface offered in World of Warcraft. The main draw of Healbot is not only its ability to customize the raid graphical interface, but its enabling of using abilities by simply clicking on the desired target’s health bar.

Reasons why you should consider Healbot include:

• Being able to customize raid frames, including health bar color, fonts, size, positioning, and group sorting.
• Being able to cast spells on targets within the raid frame via a single click, rather than targeting and then casting the spell.
• Being able to highlight both curable and uncurable debuffs, including adding in custom debuffs.

How to download and install the World of Warcraft Healbot Addon

Healbot is available from several WoW add-on sites, including Curse, WoW Interface, and IncGamers; however, the preferred site is https://healbot.alturl.com/, which is the official website for the addon and will always have the most up-to-date versions.

To download the most current version of Healbot on its official site, click on “Latest Release” in the upper-left-hand menu. Save the file (in *.zip format) in your World of Warcraft > Interface > Addons directory (by default, C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons). If you have Windows Vista, try these instructions.

Once downloaded, visit your Addons folder and unzip the files into the same directory. If you had a previous version of Healbot, it is safe to override all old version of the files with the new versions — your personal settings will be saved.

Finally, log into World of Warcraft. On the bottom left of the Character Selection screen, choose AddOns and make sure that Healbot is enabled. If Healbot is there and enabled, you can now log in and begin setting up Healbot to your custom tastes.

Decursive

Decursive is an addon for class specs with skills that cleanse ailments. It displays a small, simple side panel that lets you quickly cleanse a group member. You’ll see a panel of small squares neatly arranged together—healthy members’ squares are green, while afflicted ones are purple. Click on the purple square to cleanse them without having to click off your current target. Use this addon in every situation as a Healer, whether PVP, PVE, or solo!

Why You Need Decursive:

• Decursive choose a logical cleansing order depending on your current position in the raid. Your cleansing spell cooldown is displayed to maximize your dispel speed.
• An automatic blacklist will prevent you from losing time on players who can’t be dispelled.
• Visual and auditory alert when your dispel attempts are resisted or fail.

Character management addons

DejaCharacterStats

With the release of Legion expansion, some of the character stats were hidden from the default interface. You can uncover that information with the advanced display of the character stats, containing all the comprehensive information you want to see. Optionally displays current and maximum available item level of gear, displays each equipped item’s level, total durability and repair costs, Enhancements, and Defense stats.

Pawn

Useful mod to compare an inspected gear with the equipped one to find upgrades. This great feature is missing from the default UI. A comprehensive analysis will give you an exact percentage of the power difference between the items and even suggest which gem to use. To properly configure this addon, you will need to get the Pawnstrings for your character using the SimulationCraft. More details can be found in our SimulationCraft guide.

Simulationcraft

This small addon is making a process of generating a Simcraft profile of your character much easier with a single chat command: /simc. Copy the popped up information and paste it into the simulation window. To learn more about the simulation process you can read our SimulationCraft guide.

Bagnon

The solution to the messy default version of the WoW inventory. It replaces all the separate bags with one simple-to-view large inventory and brings other must-have features, such as checking the items in the bank and even checking items of your alternative characters. All the items in the inventory are colored based on their quality, making it much easier to distinguish and sort them out.

BFA ToDo (Legion ToDo)

Soon to become the Shadowlands ToDo, this addon’s purpose is to track the information about all of your characters in a handy list. Includes the most important weekly objectives, such as Raid and Dungeon lockouts, current weekly max M+ done, bonus roll seals, and relevant currencies. Convenient addon to keep track of your weekly progress and never miss important stuff.

WeakAuras is an extremely powerful framework that can help you track all sorts of buffs, debuffs, cooldowns, resources, casts… almost anything you can think of. It can be intimidating to get started with, but luckily, there’s a dedicated website where users can share their WeakAuras, and importing them is fairly simple.

This addon is useful in just about any area of the game. For healers, it can help you see when important spells come off of cooldown, or when a boss is using a dangerous ability that you need to react to. You can even keep track of your tank’s cooldowns so you know when they might need some extra help from you.

TellMeWhen

TellMeWhen does a lot of the same things as WeakAuras. It doesn’t have as many options for customization and advanced scripting, but that makes it less intimidating to get started with. It’s still a very robust framework with a lot of options.

OmniCC

OmniCC is a very simple addon that adds text to spell cooldowns and buff timers. Now you can see on your action bars exactly when each spell will be available again. This is especially helpful for healers as you perform triage on your group.

Mouseover Casting Addons

Healing is a lot more reactive than damage dealing, and one of the best things you can do to improve your healing is to improve your reaction time. Enter mouseover macros, which allow you to cast spells on unit frames without needing to target them first. That’s one click instead of two, which may not seem like a lot, but it can make a big difference in the heat of battle.

Mouseover macros can be set up using the default macro system in the game, but the system is rather clunky and basic, and you will need to type out a bunch of commands for every macro you want to make. Addons make it very easy to simulate macros with just a few clicks.

VuhDo

VuhDo replaces the default unit frames with ones that are highly customizable, and adds easily configurable mouseover casting to them. It also comes with an optional buff tracker.

Unit frame options include appearance options like size and color. You can sort and separate groups in a lot of different ways, and use different setups based on group size. Perhaps most useful to healers is the ability to track both debuffs and buffs on your group, so you can see what needs to be dispelled and when you need to refresh a heal-over-time. You can pick and choose what is tracked and how it appears on the frames.

VuhDo’s mouse binding options are robust, allowing you to set up mouseover macros by simply typing in the name of the spell. Modifier keys, extra mouse buttons, and the mouse wheel can all be used. There are options to automatically cleanse, buff, or resurrect targets you click on when certain conditions are met. You can also set it to automatically use trinkets, glove enchants, or any instant spell, and these will be used on cooldown when you use your other mouse binds.

HealBot was the original mouseover healing addon for WoW, and to this day you may hear people refer to these addons as “HealBot addons.” Like VuhDo, it offers both customizable unit frames and the ability to bind spells to your mouse.

VuhDo and HealBot have both been around a long time and have almost the same features, just presented in different ways. It mostly comes down to personal preference and which options menu seems less intimidating to you.

Be sure to grab HealBot Continued, as the original HealBot addon is no longer supported.

Clique

Clique makes it easy to set up mouse binds for your spells. Unlike HealBot and VuhDo, it does not come with its own unit frames. That means you can use it with any unit frame addon you like, including ElvUI or Shadowed Unit Frames, or even just the default ones in the game.

Since mouse binds are all that Clique does, it does it especially well: you can set up a binding by opening your spellbook and clicking on a spell using the keybind you want to set. It also works with macros.

Customizing Healbot: Skins

The Skins tab has several sub-tabs which allow players to highly customize their Healbot to their preferences.

The General tab allows you to choose to lock the raid frame, to choose where the raid frame is anchored when moving it, whether or not to hide party frames, whether to disable bars at over 100 yards, and to change the background and border color and opacity.

Healing allows you to choose what healing bars will be shown in the frames. You can also choose to enable a Target bar, and may set Alerts. Alerts determine at what percentage a bar’s opacity changes to become more active, helping you to see which players are actually in need of healing or danger. You may also choose which raid groups to show, and how to sort your frames (by group, class, max health, or not at all).

Headers allows you to show or hide the headers above groups and to change their graphical display.

Bars offers more options for graphical options including appearance, scaling, out of range and disabled opacity, and whether to color class bars or not.

Icons allows you to display HoT, debuff, Ready Check, and Raid Target icons on the bars. You may also choose where these icons will appear and at what scale. Options are also available to toggle showing the buffs of all classes self-buffs and abilities.

Aggro allows you to set up an aggro bar and monitor aggro, including flashing and highlighting the active player’s bar who has threat.

Inc. Heals allows you to show incoming heals on the bars, based on duration.

Chat enables you to notify yourself or others on spell casts.

Bar Text offers further customization of bars by changing the text and font options. This includes being able to show health deficiencies.

Icon Text offers further customization of the use of icons.

weizPVP

This useful PVP addon will not let you lose a single track of your priority damage target and will improve your player detection. WeizPVP will put a crosshair marker around the mark when you click on the enemy’s plate. While in BGs, you will have better detection of the enemies near you and stealth alerts to keep a good eye on these rogues, murderers of healers.

I used this addon with my Holy Priest for some time, which helped me detect the enemies coming to attack.

Customizing Healbot: General

On the General Tab of the Healbot options, you will find the following options:

Disable Healbot: Check this if you would like to disable Healbot, for times you may want to use it (for example when not in a raid, solo, or on an alt).

Show minimap button: The minimap button lets you quickly enter the options screen; however you can also enter this screen via slash command or through the Healbot UI.

Hide Options Button: By default, Healbot will offer an options button on the bottom of the frames that you can use to enter Healbot options.

Right click opens options: Set Healbot to open its options by right clicking on the Healbot frame itself (not player health bars).

Enable libQuickHealth: This uses the included settings to update health more often.

HealComm Method: Various communication methods (for advanced users).

Use CPU profiler: Monitors how much memory/CPU all addons are using. However, this itself is CPU intensive, and should generally be used for diagnostic purposes only.

HealBot Commands: Various commands that can be used (alternatives to the slash commands). Combined with Run.

Configure classes for: These options will set what type of classes that Healbot uses for both filtering and monitoring. This is generally set by your class, monitoring the same kind of buffs and debuffs that your class can manage.

Customizing Healbot: Spells

The spells tab enables players to set their spells on click for up to 15 customizable buttons.

Set Spells For allows you to decide whether these spells can be used on enabled or disabled bars. The Button dropdown allows you to select which mouse button you are customizing spells on click for.

The remaining options allow you to set what spells you would like cast based on the mouse + key combination. Any helpful spell (including cleanses and misdirects) can be set. In addition to your available spells, you can also use the following commands:

• Target
• Assist
• Focus
• Menu (WoW’s default right click menu)
• HBmenu
• MainTank

You may also choose whether to set spells to cast when the button is either pressed or released. The generally preferred method is to cast on release (this way, you can click and hold pre-emptively for a spell, and release the button when it is appropriate to cast.)

The Spells tab also allows you to choose whether or not to enable SmartCast, which will automatically cast certain spells when out of combat (in combat is disabled by Blizzard). This includes buffing, removing debuffs, healing, and resurrecting. You can also choose to avoid accidental PvP, which will prevent you from casting on a target that is PvP flagged when you are not.

BigDebuffs

Shadowed Unit Frames

SUF is a combination of simplicity and flexibility. You can easily export/import layouts from your friends or other users and it’s possible to switch between profiles without reloading UI, which is very convenient. PitBull Unit Frames 4.0

A customizable unit frame, similar to Shadowed Unit Frames. Has a lot of settings for the frame customization in the game. And a standard Blizzard nameplate, but with the settings of the Addon.
